Most people have questions about how the refinishing process works, and how it can benefit them. Here we answer some of the most frequent questions.
What if my bathtub was resurfaced or refinished in the past?
You can have your tub refurbished again. In many circumstances, the old finish must be taken off before the new one can be applied. You have the option of removing it yourself or having us do it for you. There may be an additional prep charge if we need to remove the existing finish.
What is the difference between refinishing a bathtub, and a bathtub liner?
The finish we apply to your tub is much more durable than a bathtub liner or insert. Furthermore, because our finish is bonded directly to your bathtub, there are no air pockets or gaps between the finish and the porcelain where water can become trapped and stagnant, allowing mold and mildew to form between your tub and a bathtub liner. Resurfacing is also much less expensive.
Is there an odor while the work is taken care of?
We arrive prepared with extensive ventilation systems to remove any odors that may arise throughout the operation. You may notice a smell once we are finished, but this normally goes away within a few hours.
How slippery is the new tub finish?
It’s not any more slippery than a new acrylic tub. However, if you want extra slipping protection, ask about our non-slip coating, which is available at an additional fee.
Can I change my bathtub and tile to be a different color?
Absolutely! We can alter the color from whatever you now have to almost any shade or color you like. We offer a large selection of manufacturer colors, so we can precisely match your existing tub and tile to any new bathroom fitting.
What's the best way to care for the refinished surface?
A gentle non-abrasive cleaner should be used on all refinished surfaces. The newly reglazed or refinished surface will be smooth, and, if we have resurfaced any tiles, the grout lines around the tiles will be redone and properly sealed. This will result in a non-porous, mold-, mildew-, and dirt-resistant surface that will last for many years with the right treatment. This surface will just require a gentle cleaning with a basic detergent like Scrubbing Bubbles or standard tub and tile cleaner. There will be no need for scouring or scrubbing.
